This Christmas had a surprise gift in store for me I definitely didn’t expect.

And it will take 9 months for it to arrive.

As a young musician just starting out, I’ve always had a crush for Sage Harris.

Posterboy rockstar. Gorgeous bad boy. And way out of my league.

When he asked me for a duet for a X-Mas song, I couldn’t believe it.

What I could believe even less was how our song went viral and we crushed the charts.

Seems like we’re not only good at making music because after we recorded our song, things got intense.

Talk about jingling his bells under the X-Mas tree.

Usually Sage fills stadiums with fans screaming his name.

But that night, I made him scream mine. Again and again.

One night is all it should have been.

I’m well aware of his rockstar lifestyle – no way he will ever change that, right?

Falling for him wasn’t part of the plan.

Nor was the life-changing surprise I’m carrying and that’s about to change everything…

How do I even begin to handle this?

  Chapter 1

  Sage

The Christmas party was going to be off the chain, just like all of my brother Sinclair’s bashes. There would be food, women, wine, and a bunch of kids running around. My brother was rather formidable until he met his wife Reyna, a beautiful screenwriter who was his assistant before he fell in love. The two of them have two adorable children, Ariana, and Sinclair junior. They both work for Sinclair’s production company which has exploded over the last two years. They are quite famous but like to live a low-key lifestyle. For them, the family is everything, so they go big on holiday shindigs.

It was fun being in their house during the Christmas holiday as it was always full of laughter and creativity. My brother and his wife knew how to entertain. They kept the libations flowing, the music pumping, and made introductions where they were needed for either romance or business. I admired Sinclair. I was the youngest of three children. My oldest brother was a contemptible man who chose to litigate for the legally and morally compromised sector of our society. Sinclair was a uber-famous movie producer with a couple of blockbuster hits under his belt, and I was the wayward son who, in my opinion, was definitely the most handsome of the three brothers.

I was in a rock band called the Grind which was later changed to the Grind Revolution after a potentially messy legal entanglement with a cover band with the same name. The band’s style was a mix of folk, hard rock, alternative, gospel contemporary, country, whatever we felt like playing. There were three members of the Grind Revolution, an African-American guy with Jamaican roots and an eclectic musical style, a classically trained white dude and me, the trust fund baby. I sang lead vocals and was the primary songwriter. I also played guitar like nobody’s business and could shred the hell out of anything. I loved playing the guitar; it was my escape. I didn’t take my trust fund for granted, but I was glad I had one; it gave me room to play.

“Hey.” Sinclair walked over to me as soon as I stepped through the door with my guitar case in hand. “There you are! Rey and I were getting worried.” His face was genuinely concerned. “Thought you might ditch us this year.”

“The Dragon Dodgers manager called, and we’re gonna record a song together, so you know, had to throw the deets down.”

He smiled. “Congratulations. You guys are really doing this.”

“Thanks, bro.” I flashed a broad smile, ‘cause getting a song with such a huge band was a massive accomplishment.

He clapped my back enthusiastically. “We’ll buy tickets for every show. Now go mingle, drink … do something you’ll regret.” His expression turned devilish. My brother was pretty awesome at times.

“Here’s hoping.” I put my guitar down and headed for the bar.

The first people I recognized were Charlynn and Melody, Reyna’s former roommates. Charlynn was the earthy-crunchy granola one and Melody was the fucking hottest person on the planet. She had gorgeous raven hair which she’d dyed purple and left thick dark roots, so cool. She was also a musician. I usually admired her from afar as she always had a man on her arm. Reyna told me she didn’t sleep with these men and was holding out for a great guy, but she seemed to already have a million to choose from, and I wouldn’t have classified myself as great, exactly.

I’d hung out with her a few times at family dinners and gatherings and every time we laughed and jammed and just … it’s like we finished each other’s sentences. The problem was, I was her best friend’s husband’s younger brother, and she didn’t really give me any time. I think she’d heard that I was a playboy who couldn’t necessarily be trusted. The rumors were sort of true. I wasn’t a man-slut, but I’d had my fair share of pussy. She was the kind who was so cool it hurt, yet inside was a good girl with a great spirit. She wasn’t “pussy” she was a solid person.

I wanted to have sex with her from the moment we met, but I didn’t go down that road because of the awkward consequences. I wasn’t in any of this for the long term. I had a budding music career and the last thing I wanted was a commitment. I was absolutely not my brother; no way could I have a surprise baby and want to keep it. Maybe one-day… maybe, but this wasn’t that day. Melody was a make babies and music kinda girl … you know, sling ‘em on your back and take ‘em on the road. I wanted to smoke pot and jam, which couldn’t be good for little Sage Jr., so I kept my distance.

The challenge was … it was fucking hard to keep my distance. Especially that night. She looked so completely gorgeous in her red velvet dress. The neckline took a deep dive into her cleavage and hugged her bubble ass like poetry. I was sure everyone in the room, men, and women, wanted a piece of that nice ass. Visions of spreading her sugar plumb fairy open and
stuffing my yule log in to the hilt definitely danced through my head. In fact, as I got a Grey Goose and soda, that’s all that was dancing through my head.

“Hey, Sage.” She sauntered toward me and got in line. “Merry Christmas.” Her smile was heaven.

“Yeah. You too. That dress is bangin’.” I had to go there, even though I was inches from ripping the dress right off of her. It was so hard not to just pop a titty out and worship it.

She laughed. “Charlyn made me wear it on a dare. On me, it totally looks different than it did on the internet. On the internet, it was a holiday dress, on me …”

I couldn’t let her finish without my two cents. “On you, it’s everything. Though it’d look better off you.” Oops, I said that.

“Sage!” she scolded, but her eyes teased.

“At least I’m honest.” It was our turn at the bar. “What are you having?”

“Cabernet,” she answered batting her eyes, which I’m sure she didn’t mean to do. She was naturally flirty, but in such an unconscious way, you couldn’t really classify it as such.

“The lady will have a Grey Goose and Seven, and I’ll have a Grey Goose and soda.” I glanced over at her to see if my alpha move was well played.

“Okay.” She rolled her eyes. “But if I go down because of this, you’re scooping me up off the floor.”

“With pleasure.” I gave a courtly bow as the bartender handed us our drinks.

We were walking to the living room when the kids came out from wherever they were hiding or playing or whatever kids do when they disappear and started to sing Christmas carols. It was cute I had to admit. Even though I didn’t want one of the buggers, they were fun to watch. Sinclair and Reyna had the most gorgeous kids. Arianna was three and had these amazing ringlet curls; she was a feisty little diva, and I loved being her uncle. I loved it because I liked to get her to do stuff I knew my brother wouldn’t want her doing like riding a skateboard and playing the drums. The little dude was only six months old, just a blob. I was happy I didn’t envy them having kids. I hated being jealous of my brother. The rest of the kids could be paired to the other party-goers milling about. Who knew who belonged to whom. The little monsters were everywhere, sort of like an infestation, but it was Christmas, and you had to let them out sometimes.

My older brother Shelton was worse, what a pill. Luckily, he hadn’t shown up yet. My brother invited him as a show of goodwill, but he never really came or stayed long when he did.

“Ah, look at them. They are so freaking cute. And, can my god baby sing or what … listen to Arianna’s voice,” Melody commented as her womb quivered.

Nope, we were never gonna be a thing.

As soon as the kids sang three songs they were shepherded off to bed. This ritual releasing of the Christmas Kiddos to the sleeping room with several nannies meant the party was just about to go turbo. The children would be escorted to another wing of the house with babysitters. There would be a movie, sleeping bags, and all the fun the kids could stand until they dropped and fell asleep while their parents played. Sinclair and Reyna’s parties were famous for this.

Sinclair took the mic. “Good night, children, and sweet dreams.”

There was a smattering of goodnight kissing, parent coddling, and encouraging kiddos to leave, and soon the din of chaos and mess quieted. Sinclair and Reyna had this shit down. As soon as the children were gone, a pianist sat at the piano in the foyer and played smooth jazz renditions of Christmas carols in the background as Sinclair made his final announcement.

“I know we have tons of talent in this room, so anyone who wants to add to our evening and sing their rendition of a Christmas classic is welcome to take the stage.” After saying this he turned to me and smiled.

Hell yeah, I’ll take the stage, but I might ruin the “Christmas classic”.

“Are you going to sing?” Melody asked all sweet.

“I was thinking about it, you?” I saw the ethereal look in her eye and wondered why I even asked, of course, she’d sing.

“Yep.” She downed her drink. “We should sing something,” she said as she walked off to grab her guitar and took the stage.

People clapped and a few even wolf-whistled. That pissed me off, but it shouldn’t have. She was on stage with her guitar and her purple hair wearing something her perfect tits almost fell the fuck out of and opened her mouth. Strumming her guitar she threw down Silent Night like a pussy dripping cum. Her voice was salted caramel. Rough, raggedy sweet, sensual, a gentle in and out, she made Silent Night sound like an anthem to the slow-burning fuck. I was sure that wasn’t what she was going for, but shit, that’s where she’d arrived.

She had a voice that just gotcha. It was deep, melodic, sexy … like a purr. It went straight through your heart, grabbed your groin, squeezed hard, and pumped until that shit blew. She was sex on a stick, and she didn’t even know it. She was just cool, funky, Melody. At that moment, everything was about her, and I was willing to sacrifice myself on the altar of “Oh, you shouldn’t go there,” to have her and give my cock the Christmas present of a lifetime. I stabilized my breathing and my hungry erection and tried to focus on her long tattooed arms strumming the six strings like a lover raking her fingernails over a sweat saturated stomach.

When she finally finished her cock stirring rendition of the Christmas favorite, mine wasn’t the only jaw on the floor, nor was my cock the only one bulging. I had to move in before some less worthy male did. She tossed her hair gently when she was done and leaned into the mic.

“Thank you,” her sweet voice crooned acknowledging the enthusiastic applause.

I grabbed my guitar. “Mel, do you know Coventry Carol?” I jumped onto the tiny stage set up in Sinclair’s living room and grabbed a stool from the few lined up behind us and sat next to her.

“The lu lee lu lay song?” she asked, confidently finding the chords on her guitar.

“Yeah, only let’s rock it. Grind the acoustic and the harmonies and take people to church.” I was so pumped and ready for this. I gave her a taste on my guitar as I licked out a sample.

“Hell yeah. Let’s punch it hard.” She was suddenly so enthused, and I knew she knew we were there in that moment together.

I started us off and played a few chords. The conversations that had bubbled up around the room stopped, probably because people didn’t know what we were gonna do with this very old song.

I went for dark magic. “Lully lullay thou little tiny child.” We slowed the tempo and then Melody joined with a soft haunting melody that took it to the ethereal. Together we elevated the crowd to a place I don’t think either of us knew we could go. There was not another sound in the room other than our two voices. For that moment, I seriously considered singing with Melody equal to and perhaps better than sleeping with her. We sang, we crooned, we took it to the universe and back.

By the time we finished the room was completely transformed. I saw guests filming on their cell phones, and my twitter blew up with people tweeting the song live. Already we were getting internet play on social media, and it was going wild as well ... People clapped enthusiastically as my brother Sinclair came over with a tear in his eye. “Holy shit,” was all he could say, scooping us both into an embrace.

Reyna wasn’t far behind him, making her first appearance of the night after hanging out with the kiddos. “Wow, you two. You guys should sing together more, you’re magic.” Her smile was perfect and beautiful. “It’s like you were made for each other,” she said without thinking.

She was right, that night in that space with just the two of us singing, Melody and I were magically made for each other. We had a lot of requests to sing more, but we bowed and let the others who wanted a chance to take the spotlight. She and I returned to our drinks and a quiet corner of the room.

“Holy fuck, your voice has developed,” I couldn’t help saying.

“And it was trash before?” she teased, knocking me in the shoulder as she took a healthy swallow
of her cocktail.

“Yeah, total garbage,” I teased back.

And that’s where I got lost. I couldn’t stop staring at her glossy lips; they were perfectly shiny and delicious even after singing. I had to have her; I couldn’t deny myself any longer. Fuck the consequences.

“What?” She looked at me with an inquiring grimace, noticing my carnal gaze. “Do I have schmutz on my face?” Her fingers brushed across her beautiful skin searching out the phantom piece of debris.

“No, I … shit. I’m never awkward at this.” I tried to say with my eyes what my mouth was failing to convey. “Melody, I’ve wanted to ask you something for a while now. Tonight, I just …” Fuck, this wasn’t going well.

“Don’t be awkward. I’m pretty sure I’ll say yes.” Her eyes gleamed in the low light, and my cock fired up again.

She knew my struggle. I could see it in her eyes; she was feeling the same pull of attraction. I was either gonna fuck her right then and there or go to the bathroom and give myself a handjob, cause her just existing in my space was driving me nuts.

“I have a room here; it’s a little quieter there. We could talk.” I got my game face back on. “Or,” I lowered my voice. “I could help you out of that dress.”

I was in this. I made the decision right then and there; I was gonna have Melody, the most gorgeous woman in the room. I’d take her to my room, we’d fuck and have fun, consequences be damned. We only had one life, and I wasn’t gonna miss the opportunity to bed a woman everyone in the room craved.

“Sage, you’re awful.” She blushed but didn’t say no.

I moved in closer, my voice a husky purr. “Actually, I’m not. I’m quite legendary. Your best friend married my brother. Trust me, she didn’t get the biggest or the best of the three of us, but you might.” My eyes smoldered with beckoning.

“Oh, and so modest too.” She giggled as she fingered her guitar, seductively playing a few chords, perhaps thinking over my proposition.
